Tom Fletcher CMG is a Visiting Professor at New York University, and chair of the International Advisory Council of the Creative Industries Federation, promoting Britain’s most dynamic and magnetic sector overseas. Before that he was a foreign policy advisor to three Prime Ministers for four years, and four representing the UK as Ambassador to Lebanon. Mr Fletcher is a Board Member of the Dubai Future Academy, and an Advisor to the Global Business Coalition for Education and the Emirates Diplomatic Academy. In 2018 he founded The Foundation for Opportunity, which supports good people doing good things in public life, and is Project Director of Towards Global Learning Goals – a network that aims to create greater equality of opportunity, to develop the skills needed to thrive in a new economy, and to make it easier for people on the move to adapt. His book on the future of statecraft, ‘The Naked Diplomat: Power and Politics in the Digital Age’, was published in June 2016 by Harper Collins. In November 2019, he was elected Principal of Hertford College, Oxford University, a role he will take up in September 2020.
